First Friday, Tennyson turns into a street fair — galleries open late, food trucks, live music, people already out on the sidewalk. October's is the season finale. It's the biggest one of the year and it costs nothing to walk into.
Last year we wrapped up right as it was getting going. Everyone went home at eight and walked past the party on the way to the car. That was the one real mistake.
So this year we're in it. Five stops between 44th and 38th — the same six blocks the Cultural Walk runs, at the same hours it runs them. The street is going to be packed whether we show up or not. We're just the ones in orange.
Everything else is the same as last year. Orange suit. Yellow mustache. One street. One good cause. Bring a spare mustache — the glue gives out around stop two.
All proceeds
Since 1996 they've been getting Denver kids outdoors and into science — six thousand a year, ages five to twenty-five, mostly from neighborhoods the city's outdoor programs never reached. We spend one night dressed as a creature who speaks for the trees. They do the actual work. Everything collected at check-in goes to them. Nothing gets skimmed for costs, and we publish the total after the crawl.
