Curious moms,
doing cool things.

We're a community where creative moms meet up to make, learn and play. Pop-up events and tiny adventures — craft nights, skill-shares, business brainstorms, park meetups, and the occasional themed crawl.

Come solo for a reset or bring the crew. Everyone's welcome.

What we actually do

Small things, often. One big thing a year.

Most of what we run is low-key and local — a few people, a couple of hours, something you wouldn't have done on your own. Once a year we do something considerably less low-key.

Craft nights

Make something with your hands for an evening. No skill required, no finished product expected.

Skill-shares

Somebody in the group knows how to do the thing you've been meaning to learn. Usually it's free.

Business brainstorms

For the half-formed idea you keep not telling anyone about.

Park meetups

Low effort, high return. Show up, sit down, talk to adults.

The crawl

One night a year, a hundred-odd people dressed identically, raising money for a good cause.

Questions

Frequently asked, honestly answered.

Moms Doing Cool Things? What's that?

MDCT is about creating fun events that bring people together — and if we can do it while giving back to our local community, even better.

Connecting with moms, and making a space away from the usual mom duties where you can rediscover yourself doing something that sparks joy, is a big part of it. But many of our events, the Lorax Crawl included, are open to all — moms and non-moms alike. Plant moms? Yup. Dog moms? Absolutely. Dads? Yep, cool with us. Non-parents who want aura points? Definitely.

Why a Lorax crawl?

Why not.

What if I don't wear a Lorax costume?

Food and drink specials are only available to those dressed as a Lorax. Plus you will look like a weirdo showing up to a Lorax crawl not dressed as a Lorax. The choice is yours.

Can I dress as a sexy Lorax?

We're looking for the old-school, hairy, Danny DeVito version of the Lorax. So… no.

Can I bring my kid(s)?

Why?

No kids? But I thought the crawl was open to all?

It is absolutely open to ALL…

…people without kids. Seriously though, we love kids. Well — we love our kids. Maybe not yours. But that's beside the point. We've earned a chance to spend a few joyful hours away from our evil spawn, haven't we? Enjoy the break, dressed in an orange bodysuit, with a hundred of your soon-to-be-closest friends.

Where do we start?

5:30 to 6:30 PM at The Grateful Gnome, 4369 Stuart St, just off Tennyson at 44th. Check in here, grab a wristband, and make your donation while you're still sober and generous — we collect at this one spot only.

There's a prize for best costume, drink specials for anyone in costume, and bonus specials for anyone showing proof of donation.

Where do we go after the start bar?

South, and downhill. Alley Brews (4342 Tennyson — go in from 44th, it's in the alley) from 6:30 to 7:30, Berkeley Untapped (4267 Tennyson) from 7:30 to 8:30 with the costume contest at 41st & Tennyson Park 8ish, and the final boss is the Berkeley Inn (3834 Tennyson) from 8:30 until they stop serving.

You can move at your own pace or plant yourself somewhere and stay. We hand out maps at check-in with every participating venue and what they're offering.

What charity are we supporting?

Environmental Learning for Kids. Since 1996, ELK has been getting Denver kids outdoors and into science — around six thousand a year, ages five to twenty-five, mostly from neighborhoods the city's outdoor programs never reached.

They run in-school and after-school programs, whole-family programming, and a careers track into environmental and natural-resource work, out of their education center in Montbello. We spend one night dressed as a creature who speaks for the trees. They do the actual work.

Is a donation required?

Please donate. It's the right thing to do, it will make a bunch of kids in our community happier, and proof of donation unlocks drink specials at some of the participating bars. Hooray.

Can I donate before or after the crawl?

Sure — but it's better if you donate during the event, either by Venmo or by bringing a physical donation, so it gets tracked as part of the crawl. That's also how you unlock the extra specials.

Is there a minimum donation?

If you're donating by Venmo at the event we ask for $10 minimum. That said, any amount makes a difference — donate from your heart with whatever feels right.

Where the money goes

Everything collected at check-in goes to Environmental Learning for Kids. We don't take a cut and we don't cover our costs out of it.

We publish the total after the crawl.
